As a Kaka'ako resident myself, I enjoy the different activities that are available here! I must mention—I don't have family here, so being in a neighborhood that gives me the opportunity to be social yet also decompress and enjoy my alone time by walking to the beach just steps away from my building, constantly reminds me I made the right decision by purchasing a condo in Kaka'ako.
One of the activities I enjoy most is the salsa and bachata classes. Who knew Latin dance in Hawaiʻi would be so popular? There are many excellent dancers here—and let's not forget what a great workout dancing is!
Best part? You don't need a partner to start, and many levels are available. So whether you have "two left feet" or Latin blood in your veins, there's a class for everyone.
In addition to the classes, you can find social events where all you need to bring is your dancing shoes and a bottle of water—and dance and show off the moves you've learned.
My favorite company, Latin Dance Hawaiʻi, is led by Stefan and Andrea. They specialize in teaching Salsa on 2 (New York style), as well as shines and spinning. Doesn't that sound fun?
